There is something special about living in an old house. If you are considering purchasing an old or historic house in Rhode Island or Massachusetts contact Hearthstone Home Inspection to avoid spending historic amounts to repair or maintain the property.

We have inspected thousands of old houses from 300-year old historic colonials to 120-year old Victorians to 40 year old bungalows, plus every style and era in-between.

We have a passion for understanding the way old houses were built; from the materials used to the construction practices and tools common for different eras and styles. More importantly to you, we have the experience to understand the concerns and peculiarities associated with old houses.

Frank Hopton

Frank has been a Partner or General Contractor in several Historic Renovations, including three separate projects which earned awards from the Providence Preservation Society. The awarded projects include an 1890 Victorian (73 Holden Street, Providence, RI), and 1856 Italianate remodeled in 1877 with Queen Anne Detailing (57 Brownell Street, Providence, RI), and an 1858 four-story Brick Italianate (11 West Part Street, Providence, RI).

John Labossiere

John is a skilled carpenter who has hands-on expertise with old houses. For over 20 years, he has been renovating and remodeling old and historic houses in Rhode Island and Connecticut. One of his most enjoyable projects was building a reproduction post and beam barn; his appreciation of post and beam craftsmanship goes back to his childhood when he spent many hours in the historic post and beam stables of Goddard Park. The complete rehab of his own 1875 duplex in Coventry, RI, provides him with a well-rounded knowledge in all aspects of maintaining and restoring old houses.
